New Visa Laws

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

I have hesitated to post about this only because we don't know for sure how this new law will be applied.

Basically, the way the law reads now... with a multi entry visa we would only be able to stay in the country for 90 days, then would have to leave for 90 days and then could come back for 90 days. We would be required to apply for the visa in the country of our citizenship, which means going back to America.

Our school is actively working to find out all they can and make whatever accomodations needed to be made for us to stay in the country. We currently have a visa that is valid until July 2008.

Please pray with us about this issue!

  1. Could you guys get student visas?
We're looking for options too - we will be spending three months in China and three in Mongolia before passing through Russia and we can only get our visas three months in advance - at that point we will obviously not be *home*
    Praying for you.

  4. Hi,

I'm an English expat in Spb. Have been here about 5 years now. Also concerned about this crazy visa change! I'm currently in the process of setting up a site about real life in Russia - i'd like other expats to contribute an article or two about life here...so it's not just me - a lone voice in the wilderness! ;)
I mostly write about culture and language...but there are no restrictions on topics - so people can write about anything connected with Russia. Check out the site:
    www.realiferussia.com
    especially the articles section...
if you'd like to contribute an article or two - relate some of your experiences, the good/bad sides of this place and its people...that's be great. I could put a link back to your blog - so you get loads more fans! =)
    Take care
    Alex
