thought for today...

No matter what direction we are going in our car this compass always has the same reading.  I didn't notice it at first.  Because I don't use it to navigate around town. It was on our trip to Maya Beach for our anniversary when it dawned on me that something was wrong.  The problem is that it has a leak in it.  And the ball is stuck now in one position.

I feel like that sometimes.  Stuck.
Our life is still moving forward and our ministry here in Belize is growing and active.
But, there are days when I feel like I should be farther ahead than what I am spiritually and emotionally.

Tom and I turn 49 this year.  50 is gaining on us.  We should be grown ups by now.

Following God's direction gets me back on course.  Time in the word helps me move forward on the path toward Him.  Toward spiritual growth and emotional healing.  I love this verse in the The Message because it reminds me that I won't stay stuck if I keep moving toward Him.  I will make it.

linking up with:

  1. I love the encouragement that if I run toward Him, I will make it~and that every direction of His is road-tested. What a great image.

  2. We will keep it movin' and looking ahead! And as long as we continue the road towards Him...he will navigate and guide us. Happy Wednesday :D

  3. I needed to read this before I started my day...thanks Alida! I will make it always if I run toward him! You are exactly where God meant you to be!

  4. What an encouraging word and scripture. I like that translation from the Message Bible. God is good!

  5. wow, thank you for this post this morning. i feel like this a lot of times and it is nice to be able to read this and feel encouraged.

  6. I love The Message and how it can present a verse and give you a fresh perspective. I can relate with you. I am working on areas of being stuck when I really want to be (and know I should be) someplace else. I just realized this weakness I am in fighting might very well be preparing me for a later time where it will equip me to be a strength to another. Surrender, that is God's word for me. Thanks for the encouragement!

  7. Love this thought! I'm going to use it with my students. Thanks for sharing with us!

thank you for sharing this.. I needed to hear this today :)

  9. You know I'm always amazed how God leads me to the very verse I need at the perfect time...often when I don't realize I need it...
"But, there are days when I feel like I should be farther ahead than what I am spiritually and emotionally."

Ministry is moving along in ways I've prayed for...and opportunities are opening that God has clearly directed and yet, I feel I should be further ahead...spiritually and emotionally too...

    What a perfect reminder...bless you!

  10. I turn 50 in 2 months and keep thinking I should have it more together by now!! thank you for stopping by my blog. I have read yours often on and have been a follower. The 'expat' word drew me!

  11. You put it so well and it is true.

    Thank you for sharing.

  12. The graphic is eye-catching, and is a perfect backdrop for this convicting and comforting verse.

  13. I understand completely. Sometimes I feel stuck too but how encouraging that if we always turn towards Him, He will guide our steps and we will make it.

  14. Great encouraging words. We have been struck with too many family members struggling with cancer. We feel stuck and overwhelmed. Thanks for reminding me to trust Him.

  15. We all have times when we feel stuck in our spiritual journey; I know I certainly do, more than I care to admit. Thankfully though, God is ever-faithful to those who seek Him, and joyously guides us back on course.

    Beautiful post Alida. :-)

    Have a Blessed Day!

  16. A neat WFW, thank you ~ Blessings ~
