We just finished an hour and a half session with a couple who will be getting married in a few months. They had a list of questions they wanted to discuss with Tom. One of which was about birth control.
I think I should get a prize for translating about the different methods in Russian... and oh what a joy it was to explain the withdrawal method.
Oh you made me laugh out loud :). I remember one time having to translate a letter from my mom to my good friend about birth control, it was amusing. My other favorite thing to translate was when a team from germany came to the YWAM base and one of them just so happened to be a gynecologist. So I got the honor of translating for all the Russians girls that had questions about their feminine problems, that was fun! :)
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Love it. You are amazing for even attempting... I would have gotten a book or something to give them :)
ReplyDeleteO. my!
ReplyDeleteOh Alida, what fun!
ReplyDeleteCRACKING UP!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteOh dear! So uncomfortable. So glad you're teaching it all though, I wish it was taught more often. I had to translate to a refugee family last year when they came in to get a certain birth control. They asked them some very intimate questions that I didn't know how to translate, and they ended up getting out diagrams and it was.... every so awkward.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second time I have had to translate on a sexual theme for a counseling appointment. You know, no one prepared me for this before coming here!
