Who is Ded Moroz?

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

Russia's Gift giver is called Ded Moroz. Ded is short for Dedooshkah. Which means grandfather and Moroz is the word for frost. So he is Grandfather Frost.

  1. Interesting article. It was so sad to read the part about Christianity being outlawed. How hard that must have been at the time. How hard it must be for you now to work with people who have been without church for so long - but then, I've heard that there is a great hunger for the Word in Russia.

Thanks for sharing about Ded Moroz. It's fun to learn about the different holiday traditions around the world.
