A basilisk comes to visit us...

This lizard was very impressive to see up close and personal.

Tom was outside carving when he looked up and saw it on the fence. He whispered to me to bring the camera outside and I was able to get these shots. From our research we believe it is a Brown Basilisk; sometimes called the Jesus Christ Lizard because of it's ability to run across the water.

Although we keep looking out for it we haven't seen the lizard since Friday.  It was quite a rush getting to see such an interesting prehistoric looking creature up close!

  6. My daughters and I spent quite a while watching one of these at the Panama Canal, hoping to see it walk on water. It never left the rock it was on. That's all we remember of that particular excursion. Very fascinating lizard!

Jamie Jo, I was wishing for water... but we did see it move from the fence to the ground!

  8. The world is all so different depending on where you stand. Our Lord has created each bit of life, and deposited it exactly where it needs to be.

The walking on water lizard - I could spend all day on that analogy:)

God Bless you and yours ALida

  23. Those are really some amazing shots! My husband is going to love these - he is the one that takes the better nature shots. I cant wait to show him these.

We were at the park recently and he came across some reptile that we had never seen anywhere before! He did take some pictures but unfortunately the camera batteries died so when we uploaded, they werent there! So we are going to pretend we discovered a new species! LOL! :)

Anyway, thanks for coming by Sofia's Ideas last week and leaving such a sweet comment. Its taken me this long because my internet connection AND my server are both giving me problems! :)
