Thought for Today

Posted by Picasa

It was a hot day down at the riverside when we saw this woman washing her clothes. Many people here don't have washing machines or other appliances of convenience that so many of us from the U.S. take for granted.  There were two other people with her washing clothes, splashing water, laughing and having a good time while getting their work done.  I wondered "do I work for Him with this kind of joy?"  She is hard at work, in the hot sun, with a smile on her face.  I was dripping with sweat from standing there... taking in the view and capturing a few memories.  She was making the most of her task.

May we approach our work...whatever it may be, with the right attitude.
Not with dread, but with joy. Making the most of each day for Him.

Linking up with:

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this! This was actually our memory verse this week! I'm going to tell the kids about this and see if it helps them understand better :)

  2. Thanks for your comment on WFW and for your prayers.

I always miss you when I go to those who have signed up. I will have to look more closely or maybe I'm not recognizing you on Mr. Linky.

  3. I need to post this verse above my own washer/dryer.....and the dishwasher, and the bathrooms, and all 3 children's bedrooms, and the kitchen floor. LOL. Cleaning AND watching 3 kids is no picnic....but I have a Home To Clean, and kids that are healthy enough to play nearby. I need to remember to "whistle while I work" and not complain. No wonder they don't want to pick up their own toys!

  4. Alida, I love this scripture you have chosen, as it is one of my favourites, for encouraging me, when I have a task my flesh does not want to do, as well as those I enjoy doing!

I am so glad you visited The Faith Lounge and thank you for your comment.

You really have stepped out in faith - I enjoyed reading about your travels and will be back for more.

    God Bless

  5. I loved this post. It looks like we were on the same wavelength this morning. The photo is great! Let's continue to find joy in our every day tasks and relate them to our walk with Him! Blessings!

  6. What a wonderful perspective Alida, and one we should all strive for!

    Thank you for sharing this!

    Have a Blessed Day!

  7. One of the things women have lost through feminism is the joy that comes from serving our families together and the joy that comes from doing those things with other women.

  8. Blessings Alida,

What a wonderful photo of JOY and verse to refine our attitudes! I think of this often here in Mexico when I watch the humble women work on the simple tasks without the modern conveniences! Their smiles and their diligence, hard at work, should encourage us to give thanks and make the most of every day and each task for Him!

Thank you for your visits to both blogs! I'm so sorry about your daughter but glad that you clung to that verse. May you find strength and comfort always as you TRUST!

    Peace and strength,

Beautiful reminder of the importance of the right attitude and heart.

  10. Amen, all for the glory of the Lord.

Hope you have a blessed day!

  11. Wonderful thoughts, scripture, and a beautiful image!

  12. Love the photo--it captures the joy this woman has in doing her work. Such a good thought you wrote about. What is our attitude in the work we do?

We are a blessed people that realizes not the extent of our deepest blessings....thanks for the reminder Alida!

  14. The picture, the Bible verse and your story give a consistent message of encouragement. May we do our best as we serve the Lord with a joyful heart!

Thank-you for your message at my blog.

  15. Bless her heart ~ We do need to be thankful for all the blessings we have. Thanks for that post. Blessings ~

  16. So so true......we waste so much of our life with part living.

  17. I've always tried to remember that verse about working as unto the Lord. This woman is a perfect example of that.

Thank you for stopping by Heart Choices. I was excited to read that you are living in Belize. My cousin and her husband have been missionaries there for the last 12 years.

    Blessings and love,

  18. isn't that amazing! thanks for sharing it!
