buying Sudafed

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

I was asked by a friend to bring some Sudafed back with me to Russia for her family.

It turns out that one can only buy 20 pills within a 30 day period!

It may not be the same in all 50 states, this is the case in New Mexico.

We will try to get more for our friends at another store... we have no plans for usage other than for illness, but the people at the pharmacy don't know that... they just have to comply with the law.

  1. Hey Blackpurl - saw your comment today. Yes, it's true. We're moving to Qatar in about a week and a half. My husband is a Foreign Service Officer, so he'll be working at the embassy in Doha.

  2. Yeah - that is frustrating. Thanks to those nasty people who make meth.

I tried to buy some lye for my daughter's science experiament and found out that lye is an ingredient in meth also. You can't buy it in stores anymore. Thankfully I have a friend who makes soap and she gave me a bit. She buys hers over the internet and practically has to sign her life away in order to get it.

  3. I know it's that way in Missouri, not sure about Indiana...yet. It is because there is an ingredient in there that people can use to make Meth, thus the law. Will you have any problems taking medication back with you, through Customs?

  4. good question! We have not had a problem with what it is our suitcases for the three years that we have traveled back and forth with medication for whoever asks for it.

We'll see what happens this time!

  5. Hmmm . . .I haven't tried to buy sudafed in a while, but the last time I checked, we were able to get the off-brand at Cost Co, in CA in their usual style . . . bulk.

  6. yup - a new requirement by law due to the fact that its used to make meth. you know have to show ID, be over 18, sign a log, and there are limits on the amount you can by per time, and per month. its a pain. and its not just plain sudafed, but anything in it as well!
